Applying for an erasmus placement
The application procedure consists of a few steps, taking about 10 months to complete. The good news is that the individual steps do not require much effort.
Prior to the actual application, it is advisable to consult the Erasmus coordinator e.g. on destinations or timing. The optimal application procedure is described below:
-
Step 1: by 26th January
Written application to the Dean of Studies Office for the next winter or summer semester for a place on the Erasmus programme. Please include the following:
- Short letter of motivation
- Current list of grades
- Preferred university and at least two alternative destinations
- Proof of your language skills in the language of teaching
-
Step 2: by 5th February
Erasmus students are selected by the Erasmus coordinator and the Dean of Studies Office.
If there are not enough places at individual universities, we will try to find suitable places at other universities in consultation with the applicants. After this, the applicants will be informed by us whether they have received a place.
-
Step 3: by 15th March
Students who have been selected must apply online at the LUH International Office by 15th February at the latest. The form can be found on the relevant page of the International Office.
-
Step 4: March
Nomination of ERASMUS candidates at the partner university
Students who have been selected are nominated at the partner universities by the International Office, if the online application has been received in time. The students will usually also be informed of the further application procedure and application deadlines by the partner university. In exceptional cases, they should obtain this information themselves from the partner university, or search the internet pages of the partner university.
-
Step 5: Subsequently
Application of the Erasmus candidates at the host university.
Nominated students apply independently to the partner university as "Erasmus-exchange student". Generally, the official admission of the students is carried out by the partner university.
-
Step 6: 15th July
The following documents are to be submitted:
- Printout of online application,
- Copy of acceptance letter from host university,
- Grant agreement of Mobility Committee in Iinternational Office for financial contribution application (150€ - 252€ per month, depending on country category),
- Copy of signed learning agreement between the home university and partner university,
- Notification for tax office in duplicate.
