Professor Anatoly Zayats is a world-leading expert in the science of light-matter interactions in plasmonic and dielectric nanostructures and metamaterials, with key contributions to nonlinear and functional nanophotonics. He is particularly known for his seminal works on nonlinear nano-optics and nonlinear optical metamaterials, bio- and chemical sensing with hyperbolic metamaterials, and photonic spin-orbit interactions through establishing a new concept of near-field interference. In Germany, he collaborates on applications of metamaterials and metasurfaces in topological photonics. Professor Zayats is hosted by Professor Boris Chichkov at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Institute of Quantum Optics.
